It's raining in Shrimp Town ... again.
Again and always.
There are rainy afternoons and rainy weekends,
rains that drum a beat to the whirring of the ceiling fan at 2 am.
The puddles are permanent at the base of the driveway and on the route to my mailbox.
There's still a month until the end of the rainy season,
but Shrimp Town's kids are back in school,
so we're in a funny stretch between summer and fall.
We're in a long stretch of Ordinary Time in the church year, too,
in between the pastels of Easter and the purple and silver of Advent.
Amid all the rain this stretch seems a little too long for me.
I'm tempted to think of of "Ordinary Time" as Humdrum Time,
and as Homesick Time as well.
What do you do to find interest in the ordinary?
What little things help you find pleasure in the ordinary days?
