Ch-ch-ch-Changes (243/366)
I went back to Grad School Town for one last weekend of work and one last stay at the Grad House. Technically, my old room was still mine for one more night, but I'd told the new resident he could move some of his things in ahead of time. I was still expecting my room, though, and got quite a shock!

Dining Room Table (239/366)
My new table arrived! I told them at the store that I'd save the $50 delivery fee and pick up the table myself, unassembled, from the warehouse, no problem. My car and I zipped over there and pulled right up to the bay. Problem: the box didn't fit in my car. The guys at the warehouse scratched their heads, befuddled. "What if we take it outta de box?" they drawled. I scooted the driver's seat as far forward as it would go, and we slid in formica and chrome and screw assemblies. I bounced home with my knees under my chin and my table safe and sound. It wasn't nearly so hard to assemble it.

Healthy Start (237/366)
I'm trying to get into good habits by preparing my lunch the night before, thus avoiding the morning scramble to scrape together some sort of food, peanut butter, I'm already late, a leftover cup of soup, do I have any apples? that I succombed to nearly every morning of last school year. It's a pain to do every night at 11 when I'd rather just go to sleep, but it's so worth it in the morning.

Ahh, Bedtime (234/366)
I think my new bedspread and pillow shams may have been designed for a twelve-year-old, as their brightness is matched only by my lettuce-green sheets and the turquoise Salvadoran cross over the bed. Everything in my new home is bright, come to think of it. I begin to wonder if the ecru matelassé wouldn't have been a more sophisticated option. But the brightness is "me." I'll keep it.

Little Shower (230/366)
The rain came down this afternoon. I heard it dripping from the eaves and pounding the pavement outside my front door as I stayed cosy in my living room. It filled the spaces between the blades of grass in the courtyard, and slowly rose.
The water covered the tops of my flip flops when I left for Mass and was deeper in the road. I drove slowly, trying not to spray water up. The rumble of the congregation's greetings and singing and opening prayer died down, and gave way to the pounding of raindrops on the roof of the church, as if heaven were joining the chorus of prayers.

Color and Chaos (229/366)
Yeesh! Well, I'm definitely making progress on the big move, little by little. And there's definitely a little order in the chaos of the dining room, which, at this point, is more than I can say for the living room or the storage closet I've inherited at work. Another big plus on the dining room jumble is that it's such a colorful one. Those boxes really look good together, don't they?
