Here's to Tomorrow! (364/366)

Raise a glass ...

and look to a bright future!  Happy New Year!

(Well, so here I am on December 31st, and I'm at photo 364.  I went wrong somewhere ... or this was a reverse leap year!)

Walk Along the Tracks (361/366)

Green among the grey ...

Shuttered and still ...

Nestled in the grass ...

In the solitary stillness before teeth rend it asunder...

Woodpile Warmth (357/366)

My dad likes to arrange greens from the Christmas tree around the wood that's stacked on the deck to give the neighborhood birds some places to nestle.  His home is full of warmth, inside and out!

Lift-off (356/366)

The view from an airplane is so captivating at night.  The lights spill out before you as you come closer - the streetlights in the developments form shapes like modern day constellations.  Then, coming closer, you see the dashes and numbers set along the runway, all a language you don't speak.  Unfortunately, my photo doesn't do justice to all the glitter.

The Long Goodbye (355/366)

Hermit crabs, sadly, aren't welcome on airplanes.  Mine'll be staying with a coworker while I'm away for Christmas.  My stuffed animals, who like having other little critters around, are especially sad to say goodbye.  But we'll be back in January!

Dang it, I forgot again!  That's three days this week ... I'm just a failure.  Sigh.

A Different Kind of Christmas (350/366)

This is my first Christmas in a new part of the country, and it's taking some getting used to!  The traditions are unfamiliar, and the weather is just ... wrong.  But it's definitely beautiful in its own right.  I really enjoyed my evening with friends, exploring  a new way of celebrating the season.

Dream Come True (348/366)

I'd been joking with my friends that my first Christmas tree in my own place would commemorate Mostest Favoritest of All Time Sports Team, and I did it!  I love it so much!

Twinkle (343/366)

When I was small I eagerly welcomed the coming of Advent.  Each year, we put electric candles in all of the windows.  They were a source of such joy for me!  My mom and dad unplugged them all before they went to bed, so, since I went to bed early, I got to drift off to sleep with the candle in my window still glowing.  I laid in bed and watched the pattern it made on my ceiling, and the way beams of light snuck out through the folds of the curtains.  The light brought to my stomach that tingly feeling of anticipation and excitement, and it filled my heart with warmth and peace.
This Advent, I don't have any candles for my windows.  I got a little strand of twinkle lights from the thrift store and I strung them around my window.  It's only me (no Mom and Dad to check on me) so I have to unplug them before I get in bed.  But I still feel that warmth and excitement, that Advent hope, when I see the lights' soft beams.

Batteries are still uncharged, so I took a picture with my computer's little bitty camera.

Ghost Hands (337/366)

Um ... I'm too tired to explain what this is ... or even understand why it happened.  Something to do with not aperture but that other thing made my hand look like it was there but not there.  Boo.

Blah.  I've been uninspired lately.

Starlight at Sunset (322/366)

I know it's actually the crystallization of vapors in an airplane's exhaust trail, but pretend it's a shooting star like you're a kid again and don't know any better.

Bottled Imagination (321/366)

I would like to note that, although I have skipped more photos than I would have liked, I did NOT skip yesterday.  The photo I had planned would not upload!  Ah, well...

Rinse (319/366)

I moved from a place where six inches of snow is nothing to a place where my coworker brings in oranges from her garden to share.  I'm still amazed that these oranges grew in my neighborhood!
