Picking Stawberries (145/366)

Angst and Despair

(I'm always melodramatic.)

You may have given up on my blog by now, and I would understand that.  I've been away from a reliable internet connection for a week or so now, and so I've been faithfully photographing, but unable to upload.    I hope to be back soon!  Thanks for your patience.

Last Steps (137/366)

In the last moments before graduation and the last days before the end, a campus is urgently beautiful.  Each flower must be seen and every step memorised, every corner treasured. In the last steps we take, another journey is about to commence.

Love in the Digital Age (127/366)

Nothing says love like a mix tape, even if iTunes has made it a little easier to shuffle and burn these days.

Tenacity (126/366)

Not to be outdone by the green beauty of moss and hedges behind it, this weed stretches to the heavens.

(And this one was too pretty not to put in.)

Hope and Mercury (125/366)

puddles like traps
for unsuspecting flip-flopped feet
toes make ripples

shining beads thread
the new green blade that rises
rain of mercury

hope and obstacles
the violet believes in sun and rain
and winter's end

Packing Up (124/366)

My mom's long-awaited visit is coming to an end.  We've had a weekend packed with great fun and adventures, and now my mom is packing up and heading off.

Drunkard's Path (123/366)

My mom crocheted me a quilt!  I picked out the pattern and we chose the colors together.   I couldn't believe how much yarn we had to buy!  Throughout the semester, as I worked on papers and projects, my mom faithfully crocheted.  I enjoyed hearing about its progress when we talked, and now, as the semester has ended, I have warmly welcomed my quilt into my home!   The name of the pattern is "Drunkard's Path," which my mom thinks is unfortunate.  But isn't it a pretty quilt?

Last (122/366)

I turned in my last assignment today, and my life as a student is officially over!  Well, for now, anyway — I still have sweet dreams of earning my PhD one day.   But tonight I'm savoring the feeling of satisfaction that comes at the end of a full semester, a full year.  The feeling that comes at the end of the student life is a bit more bittersweet.
