This was not what I expected from my oatmeal on Friday morning. I really, really thought I had figured out the proportions and the timing. I've cooked this same amount of oatmeal before, for this same amount of time, with no problems, no bubbling over. My first reaction when I saw this mess in microwave was anger: half a ruined breakfast, a mess to clean up before i even started eating. But then I moved the bowl and saw the perfect ring of oatmeal, like an eclipse, on the tray. It was more messy and more beautiful than I intended.
